Our mountain location forecasts are powered by data from the
Norwegian Meteorological Institute. Under the hood,
it uses the powerful European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) model, which has a resolution of 9km
between grid points and is updated four times every day. ECMWF is the most accurate global model, consistently
outperforming other models such as GFS.
We take the information from the forecast model, adjust for
elevation, and then use our own models to determine how much of the forecast precipitation will fall as snow at the
given elevation.
